Dice

The five-dice game online for free: against Moritz the cat or up to four players on one device. Big dice, a clear score sheet. No sign-up.

The five-dice game: how to play

You can play this five-dice game for free in your browser. Each turn you roll up to three times, keep the good dice and enter your points in one of 13 boxes. You play against Moritz the cat, or with up to four people on one device.

How to play: three rolls per turn

You roll all five dice. Then tap the dice you want to keep and roll the others again. You can do this up to three times per turn.

  1. Roll and tap the dice you like.
  2. After the second or third roll, pick a box on the score sheet.
  3. The points are entered, then it is the next player’s turn.

The 13 boxes and their points

You use each box exactly once. After 13 turns the game is over.

  • Ones to sixes: only dice showing that number count. From 63 points in this upper part you get a 35-point bonus.
  • Three of a kind and four of a kind: the sum of all five dice.
  • Full house: 25 points for three of one number and two of another.
  • Small straight (four in a row): 30 points. Large straight (five in a row): 40 points.
  • Five of a kind: 50 points. Further five-of-a-kinds give no extra bonus.
  • Chance: the sum of all dice, no conditions.

Tips for more points

After every roll, a golden edge on the score sheet shows the box Moritz suggests. It is free, but the choice is yours.

Keep pairs and triples you already have. After a poor roll, take Chance or a box that is hard anyway rather than wasting a good one. Entering a zero is allowed; the game asks you to confirm first.

Against Moritz the cat, or with friends

Moritz plays at three levels: easy-going, normal and clever. On easy-going he mostly plays by gut feeling; on clever he almost always plays very well.

You can also play with up to four people on one device. Everyone gets a name and a colour, and you take turns. Moritz can join as long as there is a free seat.

Big dice, clear sheet

The dice are large and easy to tap. The score sheet shows how many points each box would give right now. When the game ends you see your record: games played, best score and average.
